He shrugs in response to her question, the gesture a deceptively easy one. "Drinking alone seemed a little..." Sad, is what it seemed, but he's not entirely ready to admit that it would have come to that anyway. Really, it probably would have gone one of two ways: like this, with him still not having had anything to drink this close to midnight, or with him doing little else all night, otherwise at a loss. Champagne wouldn't have been his drink of choice, either. Now that he's come across Anya, he's a little relieved that he didn't go with the latter option. Already he feels enough out of his head around her without being drunk to make it worse.

"But I'm glad to hear it," he adds, his smile widening just a touch. "Would you like to come with me to fix that, then?"
